Delores S. Pollpeter, 86, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:30 AM at The Madison.

She was born on October 23, 1931 in Keokuk to Farris and Gladys Kay. Farris later married Rose “Sarah” Cline and she was a Mom and Grandma to Delores’s family. On December 20, 1951 she married John W. Pollpeter at St. Joseph Church in Ft. Madison. Delores owned Food Center Grocery and then she and John owned and operated Tri State Furniture and Appliance taking over from her parents. After years of expanding and growing the business she retired in 1991. Delores was a member of BPW and the Soroptimist Club where she was a volunteer award winner. Delores loved her children and grandchildren and made Christmas and Easter extra special by making her fried bread and strawberry preserves. She also enjoyed cooking and teaching her family her love of Lebanese food. She loved living and boating on the river.

Survivors include three sons, Tom (Pat) Pollpeter of Donnellson, Jerry (Mary) Pollpeter of North Liberty, Walter Pollpeter of Houston, TX; two daughters, Cindy (Kevin) Bates of Ft. Madison and Patty (Ray Cangas) Knustrom of Ft. Madison; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; her sister, Ernastine Delaney of Chicago, IL and her fur baby, Candy. She was preceded in death by her parents and step mom.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. The family will meet with friends from 9AM until the time of the service at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
