Steffensmeiers and Barker lead Hound wrestlers in win

KEOKUK – Fort Madison’s Nathan and Aaron Steffensmeier and Lennon Barker led the FMHS Bloodhounds to a 54-30 win over the Keokuk Chiefs on the road in high school varsity wrestling Thursday night.

Barker got a pin at 1:05 over Keokuk’s Zack Glasscock at 182 pounds and Nathan Steffensmeier pinned Levi Boudewyn at 132 lbs in just 1:25. Aaron Steffensmeier got a pin over Keokuk’s Corey Skinner at 145 lbs in 1:17. Danen Settles got a pin over Michael Glasscock in 5:36 at 220 lbs.

The Hounds took advantage of four forfeits to get the win as the Chiefs took five of the nine matches that were wrestled in the dual meet.

In junior varsity action, Gunther Johnson pinned the Chief’s Juanito Shoup in 2:53 at the 285 lbs
