Shirley Ann Erb, 90 of Argyle, IA died Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA.

She was born January 19, 1928 the daughter of Harvey R. and Iceal Hurd Cook. On February 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Theodore Erb in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1997.

Shirley attended the Melrose United Methodist Church in Argyle, IA.

Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker and spent her life making a wonderful home for her family. She adored her grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She loved to watch hummingbirds, enjoyed doing embroidery and was an avid reader.

She is survived by three sons, Theodore N. Erb (Myrtle) of North Liberty, IA, Michael E. Erb (Julie) of Argyle, IA and John A. Erb of Montrose, IA, one daughter, Christina A. McBride (Darrell) of Farmington, IA, eight grandchildren, D. James McBride, Kathleen Miller, William Erb, Jason Erb, Sharon Erb, Melissa Stiffler, Brandon Erb and Tiffany Robins, many great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Jerry Cook of Florida, Leonard Cook of Illinois and Harvey R. “Buddy” Cook, Jr. (Margaret) of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank Cook and Tom Cook and two sisters, Judy Danker and LeVeta Spring.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Dawn Butler officiating. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home with family meeting from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Melrose United Methodist Church or the Jackson Township Fire Department.
