Letter to the Editor - Food Pantry funds "dangerously low"

Posted

Dear Editor;

Each month the Fort Madison Food Pantry serves over 300 local families. Lee County ranks Number 2 in the State for food insecurity. Our funds are dangerously low. The past year we have seen a decline in donations and a rise in families needing our services.

While donations of food items are welcome, cash donations help the most because we are able to purchase food at the Food Bank of Iowa for pennies per pound. Please support us by making a donation and sharing this need with your friends and family. Hold a food drive at your place of work, school or church.

Checks may be mailed to PO Box 273 Fort Madison IA 52627 or donations may be dropped off at the Pantry located at 3421 Avenue L Fort Madison IA.
