YMCA plans Bike & Brew, Nerf wars

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison YMCA will be offering some new and exciting ways to get out of the house and fight off some of the winter's cabin fever.
On Sunday, Feb. 25, the YMCA will host Nerf Wars from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
The gymnasium will be filled with obstacles and will be available for kids in grades 1-6. All kids must bring their own nerf guns, nerf darts, and eye protection in order to participate.
A snack and drink will be offered near the end of the two hours.
There is a minimal cost for the event of $5 for members; $10 for nonmembers if you register by Friday, February 23rd.
Late Registration is $10 for members; $15 for nonmembers.
Also on the calendar is a St. Patrick's Day Pancake Breakfast - Bike & Brew.
A pancake breakfast will be held on St. Patrick's Day, March 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Free will donations will be accepted and the proceeds will help with upkeep and maintenance fees at the Fort Madison YMCA. The breakfast will be held at the Elks Club in downtown Fort Madison.
Immediately following the breakfast, the YMCA has organized a bike and brew ride beginning at 11 a.m. There will be six different local establishments and participants will need to complete a different task/challenge at each location.
Sponsors are of the ride include Hillside Inn, Faeth's, Kinnick South, Lost Duck, Atlas, Elks, and Staats.
Registration is open now. It is $50 for a team of five, or $15 per participant. One shirt and one free drink is included with the registration. Call the YMCA for registration at 319-372-2403.
Teams of six registering would need to pay the $50 for the team of 5 plus $15 for the extra participant.
The pre-registration deadline is March 2nd if they want to be guaranteed a shirt. We will be accepting late registrations and day of registrations. Again, those people will not be guaranteed a shirt.
