FORT MADISON - The Old Fort Players will be holding auditions on March 14 and 15 for their spring play entitled “Dial M for Murder” written by Fredrick Knott.

The cast consist of five men of various ages and one woman. Auditions will be held both evenings at the Old Fort Players Theater at 725 Avenue G in downtown Fort Madison. Time will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. both evenings. The production will open the middle of May and the action on stage will be under the direction of Michelle Slater with assistance from OFP veteran Vicki Slater. The play was first performed on Broadway many years ago and still holds records for long running. It was first directed by Alfred Hitchcock and ran for several years on Broadway and then toured the country for several more years.

This is the story of Tony who married his wife for her money. He then decides to murder her for the same reason. The easiest way is to hire a scoundrel he once knew to do the deed for him. When the murderer gets murdered he decides to frame his wife for the murder of the scoundrel. But this is when things begin to unravel.

"We invite you to come see the action and to see how it ends," said OFP president Bob Britton. "We have not done a murder mystery for several years and have had request to come back to this type of production."

The Old Fort Players are in their 37th year of providing live theater to the North Lee County area. We are drawing on that past history to bring a couple of old favorites to the stage this year according to director Michelle Slater.

Tickets for Saturday's comedy presentation featuring Chicago comedian Jeremy Nunes, who will perform at 7:30 at the OFP. Nunes brings a Midwest "Front porch" comedy that is suitable for most ages.

Anyone desiring more information should contact the theater at 372-9559 or at oldfortplayers@hotmail.com.
