More details released on Sunday fire

FORT MADISON – At 7:32 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 the Fort Madison Fire Department was dispatched to 2515 Avenue L for a structure fire with visible fire on the second floor of Sorrento's Pizza.

Fire was showing on the deck of the apartment. Firefighters made a knock down of the fire on the deck and made entry into the apartment to battle the fire that had extended into the kitchen area of the apartment. The occupant of the apartment was not home at the time of the fire. The owner of the building is Sean Mohlzon.

Firefighters remained on scene until 9:33 PM. The on-duty crew was assisted by all available off-duty personnel. The Fort Madison Police Department and Lee County Ambulance were also on the scene to assist. There were no injuries and the amount of the damage has not been determined.

The fire is under investigation.
