City sets Spring clean up days

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Public Works Department will be holding "no charge" Spring Clean up days from April 30 through May 12.

Residents who pay for City of Fort Madison trash pickup will be issued two vouchers allowing them the opportunity to haul two pickup-size loads of trash to Great River Regional Waste Authority, 2092 303rd Avenue, Fort Madison at “no charge” from April 30 through May 12, 2018.

Items not accepted during the trash voucher program include televisions, tires, radios, VCR’s, construction and demolition materials (bricks, concrete, asphalt shingles, lumber, siding, dry wall) liquids (antifreeze, waste oil, paint – paint cans will be accepted ONLY if the lid is off and the contents are either dried or absorbed by saw dust, cat litter, etc.); hazardous materials (explosive materials, volatiles and flammables, poisons); and any substance which may present a hazard to collection personnel and materials that are normally taken under the city yard waste program.

Any city utility bill delinquent as of April 17, 2018 will not receive the trash vouchers.

Voucher MUST be submitted to clerk upon entry to landfill. Loads must be tarped. City clean up and landfill rules apply. For more information or if you have any questions please call 372-7700 x 201.
