DNR dumps 1,000 trout in Wilson Lake

Posted

DONNELLSON - Lee County Conservation officer John Pawling dumps a net full of brown trout on the south bank of Wilson Lake Friday at about 12:30. Fisherman dotted the shores of the lake awaiting the drop. DNR officials brought a truck to the lake filled with the trout that were dropped at random spots all around the shore of the lake in about 30 minutes. Several more drops in the Ottumwa and Iowa City area scheduled for tomorrow were cancelled due to pending inclement weather. Fisherman need to have a special trout permit on their person to hold trout that were caught. Fishing licenses are also required for those 16 and over. Photos by Chuck Vandenberg
