Hazel Marie Welch, 88, of Ft. Madison passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 6:46 AM at Blair House in Burlington.

She was born on June 7, 1929 in Ft. Madison to C.T. “Dutch” and Jesse Moncrief McGlothlin. On February 2, 1948 she married Floyd Welch at the Santa Fe Methodist Church in Ft. Madison. Hazel was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was a graduate of Ft. Madison High School and just celebrated her 70th class reunion in 2017 with several friends. Hazel was a lifelong member of Assembly of God church where she served as a board member and Sunday school teacher. She dedicated her life to God and was a faithful servant her entire life, believing in the power of prayer and prayed every day for her family. Hazel was also a member of the Kings Daughters and Sons and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Welch of Ft. Madison; one son, Ronnie Welch of Argyle, IA; three daughters, Sharon (Jack) Snodgrass of Clayton, NC, Sheila (Larry) Ayers of Montrose, IA and Janet (Ivan) Stottmeister of Burlington, IA; twelve grandchildren, Veronica (Kenny) Welch, Theresa Potter, Jessica (Doug) Gruener, Stacey (Trish) Welch, Michael (Amy) Tabor, Philip (Holly) Tabor, Sherry (Robin) Tabor, Jeff (Tonya) Rehm, James Rehm, Melissa Navntoft-Flores, Liz (Brian) Ross and Ross (Alisha) Stottmeister; seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Laverne and Robert and two sisters, Kathleen and Naomi; a daughter-in-law and two son-in-laws.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 26, 2018 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Dave Yonker officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
