FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhound girls swept Mt. Pleasant Friday night for the second sweep of the season for the tennis team.
The Hounds also went 9-0 against Davis County back on April 10.
Senior Katie Larson won 8-6 over Quinn Whaley at No. 1 singles to get things going for FMHS. But seeds 2-4 with Miho Shirai, Kearstyn Johnson, and Larissa Ferrill all registered shutouts against the Panthers.
At No. 5, Mercedee Doty downed Sierra Barton 8-6 to seal the win for Fort Madison. Lanie Kuntz added an 8-1 win at No. 6 to give the Hounds all five singles wins.
Larson and Shirai took the No. 1 doubles match against Whaley and Erin Zihlman, 8-2. Johnson and Ferrill went 8-1 against Hallie Sandeen and Shaleen Thiengmany, and then Doty and Kuntz shout out Barton and Breanna Runyon 8-1 for the sweep.
In junior varsity action, Zoe Ramatowski and Alyse Schmidt won 4-0, Lily Cadwallader and Lauren Bailey won 4-1, Deanna Warner and Abbee Kelly went 4-0. Taylor Ann McGee and Aniah Ross won 4-1, and Jamie Folks and Kirklynn Nafziger won 4-0. Kelsey Penrod and Shyanna Hoenig lost their doubles match 0-4.
The Hounds moved to 7-2 on the season and played in the Burlington Invitational today at Dankwardt Park.
