Liberty kicks past FMHS boys

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison boys soccer team fell to Iowa City Liberty Friday at home 2-1.

The Hounds gave up two goals in the first half as they fell to the Lightning and drop to 3-6 on the year (2-3 in the Southeast Conference).

The Lightning scored at the 19:00 mark of the first half and then five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead at the half.

The Hounds didn't get on the board until there were only three minutes left in the game when Brody Rung scored on an assist from David Goebel.

Goalie Javier Trejo recorded nine saves in the game.

The junior varsity squad won 2-1 with goals by Will Larson on an assist from Miguel Trejo and Diego Lozano. Lozano scored unassisted at the 23:00 mark to break the tie.

The Hounds play host to Mt. Pleasant on Friday.
