WEST BURLINGTON - The Holy Trinity Catholic girls soccer team got a hefty dose of big city soccer with three losses at the Adidas Tournament of Champions at the Burlington Rec Plex.

The girls fell 0-3 to Moline on Thursday, 0-1 to Iowa City Regina on Friday, and Iowa City Catholic 1-4 on Saturday.

Head Coach Michael Sheerin summed up the weekend tournament.

"A consolation goal scored by Claire Pothitakis after receiving a beautifully weighted pass from Nicole Pothitakis before weaving around the defender and selling the keeper a perfect dummy and dribbled around her for a simple goal. Elyse Pothitakis was named player of the Game. Sam Pothitakis continues to make standout saves including another PK saved in our first match vs. Moline. Ashlyn Hass and Maille Sheerin continued to put up anexcellent defense with Malibu Mohrfeld and Emily Box. The first half Moline vs HTC,was excellent for us as we played the best pass/possession match of our season. However the second half started out with a quick goal by Moline and we never really got into the match until the last 10 minutes. Hass was named Player of the Game," Sheerin said.

"Our best performance was against Regina, Iowa City who was ranked third at the beginning of the season. That finished 1-0 with us banging on the wood work repeatedly for the last 10-15 mins to get the equalizer. Player of the Game was Claire Pothitakis. Despite the results we had a good showing, especially having completed five matches in six days. So my hat goes off to the girls as we have a rough patch until Maya Rashid's return from injury. Kayleigh Beigler made her season debut vs. Regina after being out for a year with major injury sustained in the Canton match last season."

The Crusaders host Notre Dame on Tuesday before heading to Quincy for a Friday-Saturday tournament.
