Anthony “Tony” David Kempker, 54 years, of West Point, Iowa died at 12:46 pm May 2, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born August 7, 1963 in Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Al and Marcella (Menke) Kempker. On May 13, 2000, he married Denise Renee Hester.

Tony grew up in the Mesa, Arizona area and moved back to Iowa when he was 19 years old. He and his brother, Jim, operated Kempker Construction. Most recently he worked at Siemens as a maintenance technician. He attended Victory Faith Church, Fort Madison. He loved fireworks, the 4th of July was his Christmas. He liked to build things. He enjoyed the outdoors; mushroom hunting and fishing. He was always joking and happy. Everyone he met was a friend and all were considered family. His family was most important!

He is survived by his wife, Denise Kempker of West Point; three sons: Timothy Helmick of Charleston, SC; Michael (Mayra) Helmick of Nauvoo, Illinois; and Anthony “A.J.” Kempker of West Point; one daughter, Amanda (Joey) Huston of Nauvoo; six brothers: Jim (Brenda) Kempker of Fort Madison; Dave (Lucy) Holmes of Arizona; Pat (Margaret) Kempker of California; Mike (Pam) Kempker of West Point; Shane (Amy) Gernhardt of Fort Madison; and Shawn Holmes of Fort Madison; five sisters: Betty (Jack) Finch of California; Patsy (Frank) Eid of Fort Madison; Deb (Chuck) Thompson of Montrose, Iowa; Mary (Scott) Gillette of Fort Madison; and Peggy (Mark) Hirte of Wever, Iowa; three God children; 16 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Joshua Minton, three brothers: Bill, Gary and Donnie Kempker; and two sisters, Maurine Little and Baby Mary.

His family will greet friends from 3:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A memorial service will follow and begin at 5:00 pm Sunday, May 6 at the funeral home, with Reverend Dan Stewart officiating.
