Michael “Mike” B. Wellman, age 72 of Ft. Madison passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Great River Hospice House.

He was born on December 8, 1945 in Ft. Madison to Andrew and Helen Bradford Wellman. On June 14, 1968 he married Karen Krogmeier in Ft. Madison. Mike worked at DuPont and retired in 2008 after thirty one years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus, Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. Mike also was a volunteer at the food pantry and at the church. Mike was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and doing yard work.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Wellman of Ft. Madison; two sons, Christopher (Shannon) Wellman of San Diego, CA and Drew (Betsy)Wellman of Camp Grove, IL; one daughter, Jennifer Hummell of West Point, IA; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Wellman of West Point, IA and Marty Wellman of Denmark, IA; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Anthony and Bill.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4:30-6:30 PM. There will be a rosary recited at 4:00 PM. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemame Cemetery with military rites performed by the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668.
