Task force makes two more county arrests

KEOKUK - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of two Lee County men on felony drug charges.

John Richard Jones, 36, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on May 9 in the 200 block of N. 5th St. Jones’s charges include delivery of methamphetamine less than five grams second or subsequent offense, a class C felony with an enhancement, and delivery of methamphetamine less than five grams second or subsequent offense, a class C felony with an enhancement.

If convicted, Jones faces up to 30 years in a state correctional facility.

The arrest of Jones stems from an investigation by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force into allegations that he was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in the Keokuk area.

In an unrelated investigation, Michael D. Sheets of Fort Madison was arrested on May 9. Sheets is charged with delivery of methamphetamine less than five grams, a class C felony. If convicted he faces up to 10 years in a state correctional facility.

The arrest of Sheets stems from an investigation by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force into allegations that he was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in the Fort Madison area.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office, The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, The Fort Madison Police Department and the Keokuk Police Department assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in these investigations.
