Thornton cards 92 at district golf

PLEASANT VALLEY - Holy Trinity senior Collin Thornton shot a 92 at the Iowa High School district golf meet Thursday to finish 26th out of 80 golfers.

Thornton shot a 46 on the front carding a 9 on the 428-year hole No. 2, but then birdied the par-5 513 yard No. 3 after starting the round with a par on No. 1. Thornton pretty much played bogey golf the rest of the way on the front nine.

The senior birdied on hole No. 13 on the back, but started with two double bogeys on Nos. 10 and 13 and the went bogey, par, par on the final three holes of the tournament for the 92.

Winfield Mt. Union's Kaleb Hagge was the district medalist with a even-par 72 including a 2-under 34 on the back nine. New London won the team competition with a 342 edging Hagge and Winfield-Mt. Union by a stroke.
