Degadillo wins Lee County Dems scholarship

FORT MADISON - Lee County Democratic Party awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a Lee County senior Carlos Degadillo from Fort Madison High School. Degadillo had to write a 500-word essay from a selection of topics, maintain and 3.0 grade point average and provide two letters of reference.

Degadillo wrote his essay on why politicians use the phrase "American Exceptionalism", and what that means to him.
