Donnellson lands $670K grant to hook up to Rathbun

WASHINGTON – Congressman Dave Loebsack today applauded the City of Donnellson for receiving a $670,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Water and Waste Disposal Program. This Rural Development investment will be used to connect the city of Donnellson to the Rathbun Regional Water Association as its main water source.

“Investments in infrastructure, particularly in Iowa’s smaller towns and more rural areas, are key to rebuilding Iowa’s economy,” said Loebsack. “I am pleased that the city of Donnellson will use this funding to connect to the Rathbun Regional Water Association to update their aging water system and provide clean water to the folks in the town.”

This project was prompted by elevated fluoride and radium levels in the city's water source. The new connection will reduce Donnellson's radium levels and bring the city into compliance with Iowa Department of Natural Resource health and sanitary standards. Donnellson, located in Lee County, has 406 users that will benefit from this project.
