FORT MADISON - Con-grad-ulations to Holy Trinity High School’s Class of 2018! The group graduated on May 27, 2018, with 18 seniors total.

The Class of 2018 asked Ivonne Wiegand, a Spanish teacher at Holy Trinity, to speak on their behalf. Wiegand spoke of memories she had made with the class, as well as sending them well

wishes during her speech.

“The first year I started working here at Holy Trinity, these students were my freshman class, so it’s bittersweet and hard to believe they’re sitting here today as graduating seniors,” Wiegand said.

She also remarked on memories that were made in her classroom.

“I have seen this class complete this part of their life's journey with great achievements and have seen them create some amazing memories.”

After Wiegand, Michael Sheerin, Holy Trinity’s principal, spoke about the seniors and the many memories they’ve made throughout high school.

Sheerin also included advice for the seniors.

“Do the difficult things when they’re easy, and do the great things when they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step,” he quoted from Lao Tzu. “I’ve often

heard it spoken that life is a journey filled with many roads, each unique unto themselves, each road taking us on a journey through life.”

Following Michael, Ben Abolt, Holy Trinity Catholic High School’s Class of 2018 Valedictorian, gave his valedictorian address. He mentioned memories he had with each of his classmates, dating all the way back to elementary school. Maya Rashid, Holy Trinity’s Class of 2018 Salutatorian, gave her speech at the Baccalaureate Mass earlier that day.

Sabrina Fullhart, a member of Holy Trinity’s Class of 2018, remarked that she would miss her classmates after graduation.

“I’m going to miss my friends, and the underclassmen, and the

teachers are pretty cool too.”

Good luck to Holy Trinity’s Class of 2018 as they tackle their first year out of high school!
