Bloodhound boys drop double header at Washington

WASHINGTON - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds dropped two games to Washington Friday night 1-7, 8-13.

In the opener, sophomore Brandon Reichelt spotted the Demons three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but shut Washington down in the second and third.

Fort Madison got on the board in the top of the fourth when junior Lennon Barker singled in junior Jordyn Gerdes from second for a 3-1 deficit. Reichelt gave up another run in the bottom of the fourth and was pulled in favor of Barker who came in and gave up two more runs in the fourth for a 6-1 Washington lead. The Demons would put up another run in the bottom of the sixth for the win. Reichelt suffered the loss and the Hounds got other hits from Gerdes, a double, and junior Dayne Cordray and sophomore Caleb Wood.

In the second game, sophomore Jace Burgher took the loss going four innings giving up 10 runs on six hits and striking out six against three walks. Eighth grader Landon Williams came in in relief giving up three runs on four hits and two walks. Wood went 3-for-4 in the game with a double and two RBIs. Cordray and Reichelt each had two hits with Reichelt getting a double and scoring two runs. Gerdes also had a double for the Hounds.

FMHS falls to 1-3 on the year and plays host to a Mt. Pleasant in a double header Thursday night.

On the year Cordray, Wood and Riechelt are all hitting .400 going 4-10 at the plate. Riechelt has the lone FMHS homer as well two doubles and a single on the season. He also has three RBI and has struck out three times. Wood has a double, but has struck out six times in his 10 plate appearances.
