Parsons, Peterson nominated for judicial vacancy

BURLINGTON – Two Lee County attorneys have been eliminated from consideration for a judgeship in the Iowa 8B Judicial District after interviews conducted on Wednesday in Burlington.

According to a press release from Judge Mary Ann Brown, Chairperson of the 8B Judicial Nominating Commission, the Commission met and has submitted Adam Parson, an attorney with the Louisa County Attorney's office, and Wyatt Peterson a Winfield attorney in the Henry County Attorney's office, to Governor Kim Reynolds' office for appointment.

Reynolds will appoint one of the two to take the position that was vacated with the retirement of District Judge John Linn in December, within the next 30 days.

Other candidates who've submitted their names for consideration included Fort Madison attorney's Kimberly Auge and Artemio Santiago, a Fort Madison attorney who's also serving as the Assistant Lee County Attorney.

Other attorneys included Amy K. Beavers with Des Moines County Attorney's office and Heidi D. Van Winkle, a criminal defense attorney in Burlington.

Interviews were conducted on Wednesday, at the Des Moines County Courthouse in Burlington and were open for public observation and listening.
