ISP handlers working with sheriff's K9 units

Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy Uriah Wheatley and ISP Sgt. Mike Barnes of the ISP K9 handlers work with Gunner at a recent training session on prison grounds. “We have been training with ISP K9 weekly to fine tune the skills these dogs have. I am very appreciative we have an elite group of handlers just up the hill from us, and that the Warden is gracious enough to allow us to train with them,” said Sheriff Stacy Weber. The Lee County K9 Association was formed to take up fundraising for the expenses of the two department K9s and no tax dollars have been used in the program. All funds are from private donations.
