Farm Credit Services helps local food pantry

Submitted article FORT MADISON - The North Lee County Food Pantry is one of 86 organizations to receive aWorking Here Fundgrant in the first quarter of 2018. With this grant the Food Pantry will purchase foods to continue keeping the Pantry’s shelves filled. In 2017 the Food Pantry served 3697 families throughout Lee County, providing them with the food necessary to ensure proper nutrition. This number was an increase of 400 families from the year before. The Food Pantry is open each week Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am to noon and 1 to 3 pm.
Jill Yule, Vice President of retail operations at FCS America’s Mt. Pleasant Office said, “We are proud to support organizations dedicated to addressing food and hunger issues in our local communities.” Farm Credit Services of America is a customer-owned financial cooperative proud to finance the growth of rural America. FCSAmerica awarded $130,840 during the latest grant cycle ending March 31, 2018.
