Marilyn “Darlene” Niggemeyer, 75, of Ft. Madison, passed away at 4:00 AM on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the West Point Care Center.

She was born on May 8, 1943 in Ft. Madison to Glenn and Mary Mehmert Moothart. On October 8, 1966 she married David Lair and they later divorced. On May 8, 1993 she married Robert Niggemeyer in Ft. Madison. Darlene worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company and retired after forty-two years of service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, CLA, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. Darlene was on a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed dancing, attending craft and antique car shows with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and reading.

NIGGEMEYER

Survivors include her husband, Robert Niggemeyer of the West Point; one niece, Michelle Webb of Chandler, AZ; one nephew, Michael (Kathy) Moothart of Mt. Pleasant and three great nephews, Marcus, Matthew and Mitchell Moothart of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother David.

The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM and the family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM all at the church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
