Philomene Turtle, 91 of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Lexington Square in Keokuk.

She was born April 5, 1927 in Madison, WI the daughter of Edward M. and Gertrude M. Meurer Dorn. On October 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Floyd W. Turtle in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2001.

She graduated from St. John’s Catholic school in Waunakee, WI.

She had been employed by several local businesses through the years, including Swifts, River Hills and Sheller Globe all in Keokuk and Sheaffer Pen in Ft. Madison, IA.

Philomene had been a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk.

She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery projects. Philomene loved her garden and grew beautiful flowers and many varieties of vegetables that she would use for canning. She liked to travel as often as she could.

She is survived by one son, Floyd E. Turtle of Keokuk, one daughter, Phyllis M. Cooper (Randy) of Keokuk and one grandson, Randy E. Cooper, Jr. of Keokuk, one sister, Lillian Reynolds of WI, one brother, Paul Dorn of WI, one sister-in-law, Donna Dorn of WI and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded her in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Cathy Courtois officiating. The procession line to the cemetery will leave the funeral home at 10:45 a.m.
