Richard William Nolte, Sr. 77 of Donnellson, passed away at 4:55 A.M. Friday June 15, 2018 at his home.

Born July 1, 1940 at Fort Madison, Iowa the son of Walter and June (Huss) Nolte. On August 30, 1975 at St. Mary’s Church in West Point he married Marilyn Krogmeier.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn, one son Richard (Karen) Nolte of Nauvoo, Illinois, two grandchildren William and Taralee Nolte. Also surviving are one brother Robert (Terry) Nolte of Fort Madison, one sister Joanne (Steve) Reuther of Fort Madison, his mother-in-law Cecelia Krogmeier of West Point and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John Nolte and one sister Bernadine Beccera.

Richard attended St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point and was a member of the Pilot Grove Savings Bank Heritage Club. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Richard retired from Burrows after 35 years as fork lift operator. He enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, antique cars, trucks and tractors.

His body has been entrusted to the Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday June 18, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant.

Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
