Clarence “Babe” Franklin Grossman, 97 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the West Point Care Center, West Point. He was born March 1, 1921 in Fort Madison, a son of Fred and Gladys (Gingrich) Grossman. On January 21, 1984, he married Albertine (Hirschler) Wilson. She preceded him in death.

Babe was a farmer and a lifelong resident of the area. He was a 50 year member of the IOOF in Wever, Iowa and the Fort Madison Eagles Club. He was the Washington Township Clerk for over 40 years and on the Denmark Fire Board for 35 years. He attended the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ in Denmark.

He is survived by Randy (Tamara) Grossman, Nancy Anderson, Charles (Diana) Grossman; additional nieces, nephews, and cousins; one step-daughter, Sandra (Randy) Meierotto; three step-sons: Don (Jan) Wilson, Terry (D’Ete) Wilson, and Glenn (Penny) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Floyd and Charles Grossman, one infant brother, Carl Grossman, one great nephew, Hoyt Grossman, and three step-sons, Marlin, Harvey, and Steve Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. An IOOF service will begin at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service, both at the funeral home Saturday morning. Burial will be at the Denmark Cemetery, Denmark. A memorial has been established for the IOOF and the Denmark Cemetery, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
