FORT MADISON - Fort Madison Community Hospital recognized Mary Jo Koller as their May Employee of the Month. Koller works in the Business Office at FMCH. She has been with FMCH for twenty-eight years. Koller was recognized with this nomination:

Mary Jo Koller exemplifies these Standards of Behavior: Positive Attitude, Commitment to Co-Workers, and Personal Accountability. She goes above and

beyond everyday putting FMCH first all of the time. She is a driving force in the flow of operations and loves the opportunity to provide customer assistance. She is here in the early hours of the morning and still here when many have already left. She truly cares that her job is done to the best of her abilities and says everything she does is for the benefit of FMCH. She is an integral part of her department, who exemplifies being a team player. She will always take time to help those in her department and other departments; she is not one to say, “it’s not my job”. She has played a large role in the Meditech 6.15 upgrade and has spent many hours on making sure everything will run smoothly once we switch to the new system. It’s easy to say the office would be at a loss if she wasn’t here. The one thing this employee is best at is making people enjoy what they do; making sure everyone has a good laugh during the day! I do not think I can put into words what an asset she is to our hospital.

Koller has worked in many different areas at FMCH, “My time at FMCH has provided me many mentors from nurses, toinsurance coordinators to registrars. I worked in the emergency department, switchboard, registration, insurance coordinator, and now primary biller. My goal at FMCH was to take whatever job assigned and do the best I could at it, I wanted to know everything there was about the business,” expressed Koller. “My favorite part of working at FMCH is the people I have met and the challenges they provided. You never stop learning in this job because things are always changing.”

Koller enjoys spending time with her husband, Jim, their four grown children and their families including eleven grandchildren.
