Virginia M. Savage, 94, of Hamilton, IL, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Montebello Health Care in Hamilton.

She was born on April 2, 1924 in Salem, IA, the daughter of Walter and Lena Wood McDorman. On July 14, 1942, Virginia was united in marriage to Clarence “Doc” Savage in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2012.

Virginia had been employed at Fruehauf in Ft. Madison for sixteen years and also at Dadants in Hamilton, IL

She was of the Methodist faith and the Quaker faith.

Virginia was an excellent seamstress and had sewn many of her own and her children’s clothing. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Each summer she enjoyed canning the produce of her garden. She also liked to pick apples from her apple tree and share with friends and family.

She is survived by one daughter, Shelia Savage of Keokuk, two sons, Clarence E. Savage, Jr. and wife Sandra of Beverly Hills, FL and Kirk Savage and his wife Mona of Keokuk, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Elmer and Jess Savage, five sisters, Alberta McDorman, Martha Peterson, Esther Tenney, Mildred Leafgreen and Sylvia Wall, and one great-grandson, Nicholas Savage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Bob Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends from 4 – 6 p.m.
