DONNELLSON - The City of Donnellson has purchased a new patrol unit for their fleet.

A 2018 Dodge Charger was recently purchased for the police department, and the City’s Chevy Impala will be retired. The city currently has a Dodge Charger and Chevy Impala. In addition to the purchase of the vehicle, an on-board computer will also be installed in the new police unit, paralleling other agencies, including the state vehicles, in utilizing the latest technology and services.

The City’s current Dodge Charger will be assigned to the Reserve unit and the new unit will be assigned to the Police Chief. The Donnellson Police Chief is also the Chief of Police in West Point, and new Charger, purchased from Jim Baier in Fort Madison, will be used to patrol and respond to calls in both cities.

“It was time to retire the Chevy Impala," Roberts said. "The unit was no longer cost effective to operate and maintain for the department.”
