Montray LaVere Clark, 78, formerly from Ft. Madison, IA peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines, IA surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 18, 1939 in Davenport, IA, the son of Dale and Grace (McNaught) Clark. On April 2,1961 he married Betty Green and they later divorced. Monty lived the past 6 years in Oskaloosa, IA at The Homestead Assisted Living where he made many good friends.
He loved fishing, camping, gardening, and visiting with friends. Most of all Monty loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. He was a proud member of the Shriners and Masonic Lodge and enjoyed helping raise money for the Shriners Children’s Hospital. When he was younger he was a commercial fisherman and worked for Young’s Fish Market in Pontoosuc, IL. He worked for Ajax, JI Case, and then Fruehauf/Wabash as a Maintenance Supervisor 1967-1997, in which he retired after 30 years.
He is survived by his son Daniel and JoAnn (Sveback) Clark of Lisbon, IA, 3 daughters; Susan (Michael) Amborn of Eddyville, IA, Malinda (Ron) Conway of Nineveh, IN, Julie Howerton (fiance John Caston) of Naperville, IL, grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Joshua Amborn, Devan and Ashton Howerton, Zachary Conway, and step-grandchildren; Noah, and Chloe Conway, a very special friend Connie Spencer, 5 brothers: Dennis, Larry, Curtis, Dale, Nick and 5 sisters: Rose, Sandy, LaVeta, LaVera, Sheryl, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sally Clark.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monty’s 79th Birthday Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Eagle’s Club, Ft. Madison, IA from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Monty’s family and friends are invited to attend. Cremation was accorded and burial will be at Harris Cemetery, Dallas City, IL at a later date. A memorial has been established for final expenses.
