WEVER - A truck driver suffered minor injuries as a result of a single-vehicle semi-trailer accident on Highway 61 Wednesday afternoon.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies, Iowa State Patrol, Lee County EMS, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Denmark Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of the accident just south of the Iowa Fertilizer Plant entrance.

The driver was southbound on Highway 61 when he lost control of the Gigg Enterprises semi-trailer striking the east side of the bridge spanning Lost Creek and sliding down the embankment toward the creek between the two lanes of traffic.

Authorities said the driver was transported to Great River Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The name and address of the driver are not yet available.
