Wanda M. Gaylord, 79, of Ft. Madison passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 8:48 PM at the Great River Hospice House.

She was born on January 5, 1939 in Keokuk to Leon and Helen Benge Smith. On January 14, 1960 she married Dean Gaylord in Quincy, IL. She was a graduate of

GAYLORD

Southeastern Community College Registered Nurse Program. Wanda was a surgical nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital, a certified nurse aide instructor for the Iowa Board of Nursing, a nursing instructor at Southeastern Community College in Keokuk and a nurse for the Ft. Madison School District at Jefferson School.

She was a member of the Nauvoo Presbyterian Church and the Houghton euchre card club. She was also a certified testing Instructor for the Iowa Board of Nursing. Wanda enjoyed playing the piano and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Gaylord of Ft. Madison; one son, Sam (Linda) Gaylord of Ft. Madison; one grandson, Zachary (Brianna) Gaylord of Fort Madison; two great grandchildren, Neely Page Gaylord and Knox Dean Gaylord of Ft. Madison and one sister, Glenda (Marvin) Moeller of Houghton; two step grandchildren, Colton Richard Thompson and Megan Ann Thompson all of Ft. Madison; three step great grandchildren, Beau Michael Berry, Pierson Michael Berry and Addilynn Ann Berry all of Ft. Madison and daughter-in-law, Charlotte (Dan) Catlin of Mt. Pleasant, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will meet with friends on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 1-3 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The memorial service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:30 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Per her wishes, her body has been cremated and burial will take place at a later date.
