KEOKUK - Dayne Cordray took third place at the Keokuk Invitational Cross Country meet Thursday leading the Bloodhounds to a first-place finish.

Cordray, a senior on this year's squad, had a mark of 17:55 and was 14 seconds in front of Holy Trinity Catholic's junior Matt Hellige, who finished in 4th place.

Hounds Head Coach Brian Mendez, who handles both boys and girls cross country, said both Hound squads had good races.

"Both teams ran well. It was a good confidence race for us," he said. "No doubt that Dayne and Katie ran well and will continue to only get stronger. I was also very happy with the way the rest of the team ran. Dayne is one of the areas' best runners and Katie will be making her name known as well. I was pleased."
