High school rodeo qualifier this weekend

FORT MADISON - Two qualifying rodeos for the Iowa High School Rodeo Association and the Wrangler Junior High Rodeo Association will be held on Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 at the Fort Madison Rodeo Arena. There will be cutting starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning, and Saturday’s performance will start at 11 a.m. Sunday’s performance will start at 8 a.m. There will be over 165 high school and junior high rodeo contestants competing this weekend.

Events: The high school contestants will participate in the all the rodeo events such as: breakaway roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback bronc riding, goat tying, pole bending, and barrel racing.

The junior high contestants will participate in the rodeo events such as: breakaway roping, ribbon roping, calf roping, team roping, bareback steer riding, saddle bronc steer riding, chute dogging, bull riding, goat tying, pole bending, and barrel racing.

Cost: This rodeo is free for the public to come and watch. There will be food available on grounds to purchase. We will have a Cowboy Church at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday in the VIP section. The rodeo will be held rain or shine, unless there is lightning.
