Lady Hounds rebound with win over MP

MT. PLEASANT - The Fort Madison Bloodhound volleyball squad rebounded from a 2-2 performance at Monday night's Holy Trinity Classic with a straight set win over Mt. Pleasant on the road Tuesday night.

The Lady Hounds won 25-15, 25-7, 25-14.

Senior Kaeli Hutson led the Hounds at the net offensively with 12 kills on 24-28 hitting. She also had 16 digs to help out on the defensive side of play.

Senior Josie Pumphrey had 15 digs and went 12 of 14 with four aces from the service line.

"Our serve receive was very good tonight, which allowed us to run our offense against a scrappy Mount Pleasant team," FMHS Head Coach Kent Bailey said.

"We were able to get all of our kids some playing time after a tough night last night."

Senior Jassmine Bass went 26-28 hitting at the net with nine kills and three blocks. Junior Jillian Wiseman also had three blocks and seven kills.

Sophomore Lauren Bailey led the Hounds with 28 assists. She is currently 8th in the state in Class 4A with 405 assists on the year. Pumphrey is top in Class 4A in the state with 296 digs on the year, 41 ahead of Western Dubuque's Emma Baumhover. Fairfield's Danae Drish is third.

The junior varsity also won 25-21 and 25-17 and the freshman team won 13-25, 25-22, 15-6.

The Hounds are 14-6 overall and 5-0 in conference play and travel to Mediapolis on Tuesday.
