Body found in Alexandria was Montrose man

MONTROSE - Authorities have identified the body of a man found near the Mississippi River on Tuesday as Jared Matlock, 34, of Montrose.

A release from Clark County Sheriff Shawn Webster said the cause of death is still under investigation and extended sympathies to the family.

On Tuesday at about 6:10 p.m., the Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body that had been discovered near the Mississippi River at Alexandria, Missouri. The body was discovered in water and appeared to have been there at least 24 hours.

Officers from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol with their Water Patrol Division, Keokuk Water Rescue, and a Missouri Conservation Officer were on scene. Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber said is office was also helping provide information for the investigation, but had no personnel involved.
