Jared John “Jed” Matlock, 34, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

He was born on January, 15, 1984 in Keokuk, IA the son of Mark and Wendy Ryland Matlock. On October 1, 2005 Jared was united in marriage to Emilee Naber in Keokuk, IA. They later divorced.

MATLOCK

Jared graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 2002. He had been employed through the years in construction.

He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Jared was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting turkey, geese, ducks, and doves. He liked to go fishing and was proud of the record sized fish that he caught multiple times. He also liked to go ice fishing. You could usually find him near the water, either on a boat or on land. He liked playing and watching football and baseball. He was a Green Bay Packer’s fan and a Cardinal’s baseball fan. Most of all, Jared loved spending time with his children. He was a loving friend to many people. He was a kind person who will be greatly missed and continually loved and remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by two sons, Ethan Matlock and Tait Matlock, both of Hamilton, IL, his parents, Mark Matlock of Montrose, IA, Wendy Ryland Matlock of Keokuk, IA, two brothers, Jeremy Matlock (Shianna) of Keokuk, IA, Jeffery Matlock (Ashley) of Keokuk, IA, one sister, Kayla Clark (Andy) of Keokuk, IA, grandparents, Billy Joe and Carol Ryland of Keokuk, IA, and Gordon Matlock of Montrose, IA.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marjorie Matlock.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Don Davis officiating. Burial will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends from 5-7 p.m.
