HTC third at WMU cross country run

WINFIELD - Holy Trinity junior Matt Hellige set the pace at the Winfield-Mt.Union Cross Country meet Thursday evening.

Hellige's time of 17:14.50 was best at the meet by 5.5 seconds. Danville-New London's Alexander Julian was second at 17:20.03

The Crusaders took third as a team at the meet with 115 points. The top five place runners from each school are totaled to come up with the points. Danville-New London won the meet with just 37 points with four runners in the top 10.

HTC's Jacob Mohrfeld finished in 21st place scoring with a time of 19:37.75. Mitchel Pothitakis was 25th a time of 20:21.78. Sam Avery finished with a mark of 20:56.09 which was good for 32nd place and Chandler Run crossed in 36th place with a time of 21:03.75.

Othe runners competing at the meet for Holy Trinity included Michael Hellman (39th) 21:27.94 and Wyatt Hellman (48th) 22:36.59.

Josh Barr took 11th in the 5k Junior varsity run for the Crusaders with at ime of 24:22.15.

in the junior high run for the HTC girls, Elliot Dostalek, ran the two-mile race at 16:25.12 for 12th place and Mary Hellige finished at 17:33.89 good for 22nd place.

In the junior boys event, Jacob Pothitakis finished second just five seconds off the pace of West Burlington-Notre Dame's Jace Figuerroa's 12:29.22.

Nick Fullenkamp took 17th with a time of 14:15.56 and Sheldon Kruse took finished with a time of 14:31.12 to highlight HTCs top 25 in the junior high run.
