WAYLAND - The Lady Crusaders have won 46 straight sets since the start of the season including three more Thursday night on the road at WACO.

The 46-set win streak is the most since 2012 when the Mikaela Foecke led Holy Trinity Catholic won 59 straight. Class 1A No. 3-rated HTC travels Saturday to Urbandale with potential matchups with some of the toughest teams in the state including the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in Class 5A in Ankeny Centennial and West Des Moines Valley.

There was a slight shuffle at the Saturday tournament brackets as one team had to back out of the tournament. HTC was set to start the day against Ankeny, but the last-minute change has thrown the schedule out of whack.

On Thursday, the Crusaders downed the Warriors 25-10, 25-10, 25-14. Sophomore Bailey Hellweg was a perfect 16-16 serving with an ace, eight digs and two blocks to help pace HTC. Senior Taylor Boeding was 9-9 serving with four aces and 13 digs. She also was 18-20 attacking with eight kills.

Senior Emily Box led Holy Trinity at the net going a perfect 36-36 attacking with 20 kills. She also had five digs, two blocks and two aces on the night for 21-0 Crusaders. Senior Eryn Anderson had five kills and sophomore Claire Pothitakis was 16-20 attacking with four kills.

According to Quik Stats Iowa website, Box is currently 7th in the state in Class 1A in kills with 195 in the 42 sets recorded on the site. Janesville's Bree Thompson leads the state in Class 1A with 314 in 64 sets.
