LCHD offering October flu clinics

Lee County Health Department will be holding Flu Clinics throughout the month of October at various locations throughout Lee County. Flu clinics are open to the public, and offered to anyone ages 6 months or older. Medicare Part B, except Humana Gold choice, will be accepted for billing Medicare. Bring your Medicare card to the clinic. Flu vaccines for people without Medicare Part B will be $25.

Director's Hike

Lee County Conservation is hosting a Director’s Hike this Friday, October 5, 2018 at Wilson Lake starting 9:00 a.m. The hike will be led by Lee County Conservation’s Director, Nathan Unsworth. The event will begin from the main shelter house on the north side of the lake. During this hike, attendees will explore Wilson Lake and learn more about the park’s features. The hike will be relaxing, social, and most importantly fun. Attendees are encourage to dress for the weather. Holtkamp's Floors, Decor and Furniture will be hosting a Business After Hours Thursday, Oct. 4 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 2331 Avenue L to celebrate their 30th Anniversary.

Corporate Games

The Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce Corporate Games will be held Oct. 5. This fun and competitive afternoon pits local manufacturing and industry teams against each other in a battle of wits and skills at the Baxter Sports Complex.

Supervisor/Senate debate

An election debate featuring candidates Rich Harlow and Jim Steffen for Lee County Supervisor, and Jeff Kurtz and Jeff Reichman for the Iowa Senate will be held at the Quality Inn & Suites on Monday Oct. 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 hosted by Fort Madison Partners. Doors will open at 5:30 and the general public will be able to write down questions for the candidates to be asked as time allows.

ABATE Run

ABATE #18 Toys for Tots Run is Saturday, October 6, 2018. Sign up starts at 10:00 am at Roderers Pit Stop, Burlington, IA with everyone leaving at noon. Sign up fees are $10.00 for ABATE members and $12.00 for non members. Ride endsat 6 :00pm at Outpost Bar & Grill, Burlington, IA. Fort Madison Depot Farmer’s Market

Every Monday local vendors have farmer’s market options available at the Old Santa Fe Depot on the Riverfront in Fort Madison. The farmer’s market runs every Monday until Oct. 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot west of the depot.

Pack in Pink

The October 12th home Bloodhound football game will be a Pack In Pink night. T-shirts can be ordered as part of the FMHS National Honor Society through Tracy Madsen at FMHS.

Lee County Conservation Scary Hike

Come on a family friendly hike through the woods on the evening of Oct. 13 and see humorous skits about the wild outdoors. Groups will leave every 15 minutes from the large shelter at Wilson Lake. Veteran's Breakfast at Sunnybrook

Each month on the third Tuesday of the month, Sunnybrook Assisted Living hosts a Veteran's Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 5025 River Valley Road in Fort Madison.

Key Club Halloween Carnival

The annual Fort Madison High School Key Club and Fort Madison Kiwanis Halloween Carnival will be held on Oct. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the high school with games, costume contests and prizes.
