LCHD offering October flu clinics

Lee County Health Department will be holding Flu Clinics throughout the month of October at various locations throughout Lee County. Flu clinics are open to the public, and offered to anyone ages 6 months or older. Medicare Part B, except Humana Gold choice, will be accepted for billing Medicare. Bring your Medicare card to the clinic. Flu vaccines for people without Medicare Part B will be $25.

Supervisor/Senate debate

An election debate featuring candidates Rich Harlow and Jim Steffen for Lee County Supervisor, and Jeff Kurtz and Jeff Reichman for the Iowa Senate will be held at the Quality Inn & Suites on Monday Oct. 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 hosted by Fort Madison Partners. Doors will open at 5:30 and the general public will be able to write down questions for the candidates to be asked as time allows.

Fort Madison Depot Farmer’s Market

Every Monday local vendors have farmer’s market options available at the Old Santa Fe Depot on the Riverfront in Fort Madison. The farmer’s market runs every Monday until Oct. 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot west of the depot.

FMCH Auxiliary fundraiser

The Fort Madison Community Hospital Auxiliary will hosting a fundraiser featuring The Nutman Company. The Nutman Company will be onsite Thursday October 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, October 12 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby at FMCH. The Nutman Company will be selling 150 fine quality nuts, chocolates, snack mixes and candies. The FMCH Auxiliary will receive a percentage of the sales. Cash and credit cards accepted.

Pack in Pink

The October 12th home Bloodhound football game will be a Pack In Pink night. T-shirts can be ordered as part of the FMHS National Honor Society through Tracy Madsen at FMHS.

Lee County Conservation Scary Hike

Come on a family friendly hike through the woods on the evening of Oct. 13 and see humorous skits about the wild outdoors. Groups will leave every 15 minutes from the large shelter at Wilson Lake. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $2 per person (ages 3+). Call Lee County Conservation at 319-463-7673 to reserve your time. Reservations are required.

Veteran's Breakfast at Sunnybrook

Each month on the third Tuesday of the month, Sunnybrook Assisted Living hosts a Veteran's Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 5025 River Valley Road in Fort Madison.

Ghost Hunt

The Fort Madison Partners are sponsoring a Ghost Hunt on Oct. 26-27 with Iowa Paranormal conducting investigations at some of the most haunted homes west of the Mississippi. For more information or tickets contact the Partners office at 319-372-5471.

Key Club Halloween Carnival

The annual Fort Madison High School Key Club and Fort Madison Kiwanis Halloween Carnival will be held on Oct. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the high school with games, costume contests and prizes.

PORT Boo-Athlon

The Fort Madison PORT Trail committee will be holding it's annual Boo-Athlon on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Baxter Sports Complex.
