HTC sweeps Mt. Pleasant invitational

MT. PLEASANT - The Holy Trinity Crusaders breezed to a four-match sweep at the Mt. Pleasant Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday.

HTC senior Emily Box dominated at the net in the tournament with 45 kills on 86-91 attacking and had eight blocks on the day as the Crusaders downed Burlington-Notre Dame 25-15, 25-10, Central Lee 25-17, 25-6, Mt. Pleasant 25-17, 25-10 and Pekin 25-9, 25-16.

Senior Eryn Anderson was 45-45 serving with seven aces to lead HTC at the line. She also had 15 kills on 35-40 hitting. Senior Taylor Boeding, who came off one of her best night's of her career Thursday at Cardinal of Eldon, was 50 to 59 at the net with 15 kills. She also led the team in digs with 33 from the back court. Sophomore Bailey Hellweg and freshman Kassi Randolph combined for 83 assists on the day.

Sophomore Katie Denning had six kills to go with six blocks at the net. Seniors Mya Lawlor and Elyse Pothitakis had 53 digs on defense for HTC.

The Lady Crusaders are 29-2 on the year and play host to Central Lee on Tuesday at Shottenkirk gymnasium.
