Larry C. Johnson, 71, of Marshalltown and formerly of Fort Madison passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown.

He was born on April 27, 1948 in Ft. Madison to Wayne and Ellen Berens Johnson. His father died and his Mom married his step dad, Frank Strunk. Larry graduated

from Burlington High School where he was the senior class president and covered the news for the Football and Basketball games. He also graduated from Evansville College. He worked in his younger years at the Burlington Hawkeye and then Bennett Furniture. Larry served in the US Army during Vietnam where he was wounded three times and received three purple hearts and a silver star.

Survivors include one brother, Robert (Roberta) Johnson of Morning Sun, IA and a sister, Sharon McCartney of Kingman, AZ and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Keokuk National Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted. King-Lynk Funeral Home is assisting the family.
