FORT MADISON – Senior Josie Pumphrey was named co-Player of the Year in the Southeast Conference volleyball on Tuesday.
Pumphrey played libero for the Bloodhounds, who finished the year 20-12 and bowed out in Region 8 play to Fairfield.
Pumphrey was tops in the conference in serving aces with 72 and aces per set at .83. She was also second in the conference with digs at 471 on the year behind co-Player of the year Danae Drish of Fairfield who had 569 in 13 more sets of play.
Also named to the first team were Senior Kaeli Hutson and junior Jillian Wiseman, the only underclassman to get first-team status.
Wiseman was second in the loop in kills with 273 behind Fairfield’s Alison Godwin. Hutson was fourth in the conference with kills at 197. Hutson was also 3rd in the league behind Drish and Pumphrey in digs with 335.
Sophomore Lauren Bailey was named 2nd team all-conference. Bailey led the Southeast Conference in assists on the year with 710, almost double that of Fairfields Lily Hoskins who was second with 363. Bailey was also tied for 5th in the league with 31 aces, and had one of the highest serving percentages in the league at 95.7% success.
Seniors Olivia Williams, Braxtyn McGhghy and Jassmine Bass all received honorable mention.
Seniors Hutson, McGhghy, Pumphrey Williams and Jaycie Gordon all received Academic All-Conference. Juniors Gracie Gobble, Zoe Ramatowski, Jada Sheppard and Wiseman were also named Academic all-conference for holding a 3.25 or better GPA during the season.
Keokuk’s Isabel Vandenberg was named 2nd team all conference, while Keliegh Hall and Cassidy Koeber received honorable mention.
The Chiefs, Michenna Davis, Koeber and Vandenberg all were named academic all-conference.
