FORT MADISON – Fort Madison Partners, in partnership with the Climax Molybdenum, the City of Fort Madison, the Fort Madison Police Department, and Shred-It will be holding a Shred-A-Thon on Saturday.
The event is sponsored by Climax Molybdenum and is being held to help fight identity theft as well as help stock the Fort Madison Food Pantry. Area residents and business are encouraged to bring their shreddable documents to the front of the Partners office at 614 9th Street between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.
Up to five boxes or bags no bigger than 12″x15″x10 will be accepted. No binders, plastics, or discs can be accepted in the shredding truck. The Shred-it Company truck will be in front of the office for three hours or until the truck is full, whichever comes first.
Donations of canned foods, dry goods, and/or money are being encouraged and will be accepted during the event to help those in need.
“As we head into the holiday season there is always a larger need for food items at the food pantry,” said Tim Gobble, Fort Madison Partners Executive Director,
“This is a great time to help them and to get rid of some of those documents piling up in the office or at home.”
