FM couple nabbed on meth charges

KEOKUK - A Fort Madison couple were two of three people arrested last week by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force.

Christina Weir 38, and James Jackson 46, were arrested on felony drug charges. Weir is charged with the following: 5 counts of delivery of methamphetamine over 5 grams, two of these charges were within 1000 feet of a park, all are class B felonies. Jackson is charged with delivery of more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony.

In an unrelated matter, Zachary Sherman, 29, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on November 15, 2018 at his residence. Sherman is charged with possession with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, within 1000 feet of a park, second or subsequent offense, a class B felony with enhancements. Also, he is charged with a drug tax stamp violation which is a class D Felony. If convicted, Sherman faces up to 55 years in a state correctional facility.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Keokuk Police Department, and the Fort Madison Police Department assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in these investigations.

All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
