Carmelita Rose Schutte, 85, of rural Kahoka died Thursday, November 22, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born February 26, 1933, the daughter of Vincent and Bess McDonnell Boudreau in St. Patrick, Missouri. On July 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to Herbert Schutte at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2012.

Carmelita graduated from St. Patrick High School with the Class of 1951.She was employed with the Clark County Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant for three years and then was an LPN for twenty years, retiring in 2005. Carmelita had an unwavering and deep faith in God and was an active member of the Shrine of St. Patrick and a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella for 69 years. Her faith was an active and vital part of her life.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and when it came to NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was her man. Carmie and Herb loved to dance every chance they could. Most weekends were spent attending a dance somewhere. Most of all her heart was in her home where she made a lifetime of treasured memories with her family. The time she spent with her family was priceless and the memories that were made will live on in their hearts forever.

She is survived by five daughters; Janet Koltun of Springfield, IL, Nancy Greer and her husband Ron of Quincy, IL, Joan Ruhs and her husband Greg of Hamilton, IL, Ann Sturm of Kahoka, MO and Barbara Alber and her husband Otto of Shelbina, MO, three sons; Gerald Schutte of Kahoka, John Schutte and his wife Dayle of Grand Island, NE and Daniel Schutte and his wife Cathy of Canton, grandchildren, Kristen (Steve Myers) Greer, Zachary Greer, Kyle (Alexandra) Schutte, Sara Schutte, Evan Schutte, Nicholas Ruhs, Danielle Ruhs, Amanda Frankel, Tanner Schutte, Andrea (Josh) Kinman, Adam (Hannah) Sturm, Anna Sturm, and Matthew Alber, four great grandchildren, Blake Myers, Katelynn Myers, Finley Schutte and Jase Kinman, six sisters-in-law, Hilda Schutte of Macomb, IL, Patricia Schutte of Yucca Valley, CA, Rita Burn of Springville, NY, Ruthanna Garrison of St. Louis, MO, Joan Rodis and her husband Ted of St. Louis, MO, Jane Styczynski of Augusta, MO, two brothers-in-law, Dennis Schutte and his wife Doreen of St. Louis, MO, Joseph Schutte and his wife Mary of LaGrange, MO, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, twin granddaughters, Erin and Erica Alber, two sisters, Emma Danker and Joan Beglin, five brothers, Robert Boudreau, Edward Boudreau, Charles Boudreau, Maurice Vincent (Bode) Boudreau and Paul Boudreau, a son-in-law, David Koltun, and two brothers-in-law, Edward and Paul Schutte.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shrine of St. Patrick, St. Patrick, MO with Father Rob Fields, Father James Wheeler and Father Tom Alber officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Prayer service and rosary will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home prior to the visitation. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with the family meeting with friends following the prayer service and rosary till 8 p.m.
