Ernest L. Hobbs Jr., 86, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 9:52 AM at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

He was born on November 20, 1932 in Ft. Madison to Ernest L. Hobbs Sr. and Edith Boring Hobbs. On September 1, 1956 he married Mary “Peggy” Woodall in Biggsville, IL and she passed away on October 26, 2013. Ernest was a tool and die maker and worked for Sheaffer Pen Co and then for Riverside Plastics in Bonaparte from where he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, making macramé hangings, socializing with friends and helping others. He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Ft. Madison Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Imelda “Mel”) Granaman of Ft. Madison; two brothers, Gerald Hobbs of Ft. Madison and Terry Hobbs of West Point; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; a daughter, Victoria Ann Hobbs. And a niece, Joyce.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Lane Van officiating. Per his wishes, he has donated his body to the University of Iowa Anatomical Deeded Body Program. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
